Sun Kissed

Bid adieu to your lingering tan

We all agree that a sun-kissed tan looks exotic and sexy but only if it’s on someone like Eva Longoria . With the amount of heat and sun we are exposed to these days, our skin looks like worn leather as opposed to the sexy tan we see on others and when that happens, the tan must go!

Here are a couple of home remedies to get rid of that lingering tan:

Exfoliate:

Exfoliation is essential when it comes to getting rid of a tan but also to keep your skin looking fresh. It takes away dead skin cells exposing new ones.

You can make your own scrub at home by mixing curd, gram flour and lemon in equal parts. The yoghurt and lemon help lighten your skin and the flour acts as a gentle exfoliator to remove dead skin. It is important to moisturise the new skin cells right after exfoliating. Avoid exposing your skin to the sun right after exfoliating because your skin is sensitive at this point.

Beauty masks:

These home-made babies are easily accessible in your kitchen and make a delicious and soothing recipe for tanned skin.

- Rice flour, gram flour, yoghurt (1 tablespoon each) and milk (2 tablespoons). Mix well to make a paste. Apply this pack on the affected area and let it sit for 15 - 20 minutes. If you are applying it on the body, make sure you apply a thick layer.

- Mix lemon juice, rose water and cucumber juice in a bowl. Apply to the affected areas. The acidity in the lemon juice helps remove tan and cucumber and rose water cool the skin down.

- Mix one part lemon juice to one part honey. Apply this mixture on the tanned area. This helps in soothing and moisturising your skin too.

- Grandma’s recipe: Add turmeric to a cup of milk to make a paste for your entire body. Use it as a pack and wash away after it dries off.

Right or Wrong ?

The best friend of any women is makeup , makeup is the poker face that every women loves to wear . However, for all the time we tend to spend in front of the mirror in the morning, the evening routine is that much more rushed or sometimes even forgotten completely! I am here to tell you how to correctly remove your day-long armour.

What you need:
Removing your makeup correctly and exhaustively at the end of a long, tiring day is probably one of the most important skin care regimes you need to invest in. All you really need is a proper facial cleanser and an eye makeup remover.

The right technique:
The long lasting coverage you love during the day – that is what you are up against in the night. Start your makeup removal regime with a gentle, non-drying cleanser. The goal is not to rub your skin raw, but to use gentle hands and dab away the product. Also, it is advisable to rinse your face with luke warm water after using your cleanser, while concentrating on washing your hairline and jawline as well.

The delicate eye area:
The more eye makeup you opt to wear, the more important it becomes to use a specially formulated eye makeup remover. By using the correct product, you can ensure that even the stubborn waterproof or tear proof products you use will come off easily. Instead of using your bare fingers, apply the eye makeup remover with the help of a cotton swab or soft tissue and use gentle circular strokes. For an effective outcome and to ensure the residual makeup does not spread all over, work your strokes from the inner corner of your eye all the way to the outer corner, while constantly remembering to be extremely gentle. Finally, once all the makeup has been removed, lightly pat the whole area dry with a soft tissue.

As you prepare to turn in and switch off the lights, conclude your day with a good moisturiser to nourish and pamper your skin. Effectively moisturising your face and lips will dictate youthful, radiant skin .

Nailed It

Our nails are made of keratin, the same protein as our hair . So it stands to reason that just like your hair can grow weak and break, so can your nails.
Here’s how to get strong and healthy nails.

1. Stop biting your nails, which can eventually lead to breaks.

2. Always wear rubber gloves while cleaning. These will protect your nails from the chemicals in household cleaners.

3. Let your nails dry thoroughly after they’ve been submerged in water, as your nails are porous and absorb moisture, making them weak and prone to breaking.

4. Get regular manicures and trim your nails to get rid of weak parts or hangnails.

5. Drink lots of water, and eat Vitamin E and protein-rich foods.

6. Massage your cuticles every day. This will stimulate blood flow to the area, promoting healthier nail growth.

7. Always moisturize your hands and nails after washing your hands.
.

8. Remove old nail polish after a week to prevent chipping and peeling. Also, let your nails ‘breathe’ without nail paint for a few days once in a while, as the polish forms a solid barrier and could lead to yellowing of the cuticle over time.

Confession of a shopaholic

Well its the ongoing sale season ,its the time of the year when everybody is seen splurging around in the markets .Women can be seen trying on clothes , one after another , "is this looking good on me ?"  is the question that can be heard around the trial rooms .

I'm somebody who can not sit at home , and look for opportunities that would have me hopping around in the markets . And as soon as i enter the market , its like the clothes start calling out to me and then i feel like buying everything . But given the budget , i cant . Its not easy for me to stop myself from buying stuff for myself .i have to fight with my inner voice that stops me from buying.

Just recently i had gone on a shopping spree , i bought everything that i needed , all my desires and wishes had been fulfilled. my mom had specifically said "no more buying clothes now" . somehow after two days i found myself in the market and guess what ? i ended up shopping !!

later what i get to hear is the wrath of my mom  saying "how much more do you want to shop ?the clothes don't even fit in your almirah. "
I'm sorry mom, but I'm a shopaholic and there is a little i can do about it :P

straighten it up

Perfectly straight hair often doesn’t just happen on its own…at least not for all of us who have been standing in the “curly” line when Mother Nature was giving away hair! And unlike straight-haired girls whose only problem and cause for frizz is hair damage, we, curlies, do need to put some amount of effort into achieving an absolutely perfect pin straight hairstyle. No need for a sad face, lovelies, as there are plenty of tricks to help you ward off frizz and ensure that, once you straighten your hair, it stays that way until the next wash!Take a peek at this list below to find a new tip for straight hair to add to your styling routine:

 PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS

Another great tip for straight hair that lasts would be to really take your time when straightening and make sure you’ve done a flawless job. And whether you’re blow-drying or flat-ironing, the only way to do so is to avoid rushed jobs. Let your hair air-dry until it’s about 70 to 80% dry, then section off and work on each individual section until it’s completely dry and completely smooth.

 WRAP IT UP

“But what about sleeping?”, some of you may ask! Well, there is a way to preserve your perfectly straight hair even in the hottest of days or nights! Simply comb your hair back and secure it into a low pony by sliding on a no slip elastic band. Follow up with a twilly or a folded silk scarf if your hair is long and your length will be as silky and crease free as ever! Simply loop the folded scarf/twilly around the elastic for hold, then wrap your ponytail up all the way down and finish off with a loop. Kind of like the way Hermes owners wrap the handles of their bags! Slip a few elastics over the scarf to make sure it stays

KEEP IT OFF YOUR BACK

When your hair is medium or long, keeping it perfectly straight yet sexy and flowing is one of the biggest summer challenges. Kind of like applying a suntan lotion between your shoulder blades – doable yet takes a bit of work. In order to prevent the frizz and curling that sweating will cause should you decide to leave your hair loose, experiment with this next tip for your straight hair! You don’t have to put your gorgeous length up, simply choose a full back tee or top, or experiment with super light silk scarves that are not only a fab accessory to play up a plain tank top but will also prevent a direct contact between your hair and your bare back.

 SAY “YES” TO PRODUCTS

Keeping your hair straight will be much easier with the help of a few products made especially for this purpose! My days of pin straight hair everyday and any day are long over, but I remember Tigi having a cool selection of various products to help maximise your straightening results. Find your ideal line/cosmetic brand/ combination of products and invest in a shampoo, conditioner, anti-frizz serum or a leave in and you’ll have everything needed for a perfect, long lasting style!

Skin savers on a budget

Who wouldn't like to visit the salon every other week? It's an hour (or more) of perfect me-time, and while you might have drifted off to dreamland, when you're at the billing desk, you cringe just a bit.  Which is why we listed out our tried and tested skin savers that are guaranteed to make you fabulous without burning a hole in your pocket.

Papaya Face Scrub

Apart from its health benefits, Papaya also scores high in the beauty department. Mash half an unripe papaya into a bowl and add to it a quarter cup of honey with a quarter cup of brown sugar and mix gently. Leave this paste on your skin for fifteen minutes and then scrub in light circular motions to gently exfoliate.  While the enzymes of the papaya will get rid of dead skin cells, the honey acts as a moisturiser, leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth.

Cinnamon and honey for Acne
Acne can find you no matter what age you are. And chances are that when you finally spot that nasty pimple, everyone else can too. Head over to your kitchen and mix a teaspoon of honey with half a teaspoon of powdered cinnamon into a paste. Apply it on the pimple and leave overnight. Cinnamon and honey both act instantly to stop the growth of infection (bacteria/fungi.) Alternately, if you?re dealing with dark spots or acne remnants, applying lime juice for a few minutes every now and then can help make them lighter.

Green Tea Bags for your Eyes

Green tea, among its many benefits, can also help deal with puffy eyes. Moisten tea bags in hot water for 30 seconds and leave them to cool in the refrigerator for about half an hour. Then, place them on your eyes for 15-20 minutes. Since green tea has anti-inflammatory properties it works by restricting the blood flow and reducing puffiness. It?s a great solution for tired eyes and dark circles as well.
